Hmm. I'm unsure I follow the punchline. YouTube videos are so short people can sit back and think about the following videos, in contrast to classic videos, which take 80-120 minutes (or more, if it's a Peter Jackson film). Is that it?
I find myself watching YouTube videos with people all the time and waiting to show them one that I think is great while watching their clip. Its probably because I'm that guy that doesn't listen to what people are saying, I'm just planning out what I'm going to say next while you are talking.

I can certainly appreciate your point, and I wonder how much more, as males, we maintain this condition than women.
