This video was simply fascinating. As the Rooster said, "my death clock may become obsolete"
Here is another viewpoint that say the Singularity will not be immortality, but the death of us.
APPARENTLY ITS NOT SUCH A BAD THING TO BECOME A GOD MAKER ANYMORE. Thank you Mr. Kaku.

WOW. I was definitely reminded of this post, when I read this: http://cougarabogado.blogspot.com/2010/12/modern-computing-set-to-enter-matrix-as.html
Theoretically, I agree with the synthesizer guy. Ultimately, I agree with the biologist: "If you want to be immortal, do something significant in your life." "Death is our universal heritage."
"For behold, if Adam had put forth his hand immediately, and partaken of the tree of life, he would have lived forever, according to the word of God, having no space for repentance; yea, and also the word of God would have been void, and the great plan of salvation would have been frustrated.
"But behold, it was appointed unto man to die—therefore, as they were cut off from the tree of life they should be cut off from the face of the earth—and man became lost forever, yea, they became fallen man."
Ironically enough (given the two views presented in the clip), we will all die and we will all become immortal, regardless of C-3PO or R2-D2, "For as in Adam, all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive."
I definitely see Shang Tsung's point about merging with the technology. Matrix or mark of the beast, anyone?
Frankly, I believe we will hit singularity (immortality and all the rest), and then, about one or two years later, Armageddon will happen. Consequently, only those who can "abide the day of His coming," will remain.
But what sayest thou?
Ah yes, that was a good post. I agree with you for some reason it seems likely that such an event could truly be a catalyst for the end.
Perhaps the anti-Christ will be AI?
Ok - while this is interesting, in my heart of hearts, i have to ask myself, Is this not utter hogwash? Don't computers have to have a script no matter how big or how fast? And if they have the ability to improvise and create their own script on the fly, won't they still need a script to do that? There is no way in the world that all of the scripts could be reconciled. Not even close. There are too many conflicting end goals. WarGames is a perfect example of this. I think it far more likley that we will all be exploded to kingdom come before the machines start waging war on the humans.
but maybe singularity in a certain definition could happen in certain aspects. Solve world hunger? Create the perfect international currency? Perfect the education of people around the world?
Also what about consiousness? I think Abogado is correct, it is appointed unto man that he must die (even if we insist on eternally tormenting those we leave behind with a false presence of ourselves!)
As for computers turning against humans, I see that as somewhat theoretically impossible. Why? Agency. As Rooster points out, computers run on certain sets of instructions and, unless we gave them the capability to disregard those instructions (which boggles my mind to think of accomplishing -- simply seems impossible), I'm confident we're safe from a SkyNet/Matrix rebellion.
Regarding the anti-Christ, F-Word, does that say AI or AL, as in the creator of the Internet? Besides, we all know the Governator is actually the AC . . .
